Ready to catch the big one? Angler Academy at Gulf State Park is your ultimate beginner’s guide to saltwater fishing! Join us on the iconic Gulf State Park Saltwater Pier and dive into the exciting world of fishing.
We’ll kick off by covering the must-know basics—like Alabama’s fishing rules and regulations and the essential gear every angler needs. Then, it’s time to get hands-on! You’ll practice tying essential knots, discover the best hooks to use, and learn how to bait them like a pro. By the end of this experience, you’ll have the confidence and skills to cast your line on your own!
Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned angler looking to brush up on the basics, Angler Academy will have you fishing like a pro in no time—as long as the fish are biting, of course!

Cost: $20 per person; $3 per non-fishing guardian/adult

Children ages 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

For Angler Academy, Gulf State Park will provide your fishing pole, bait, and a temporary license for fishing. After the class, if you want to continue fishing, you may purchase a pier license and rent a rod from the pier tackle shop. Your wristband will be good all day.
No refunds will be issued unless the class is canceled due to weather.
