Guided Hike - King's Chair Overlook
Welcome to the 4th hike in a series of hikes that are being led by our wonderful friend Zachary Weekley! Time to tackle the King’s Chair hike!
There will be five hikes in the series and all five hikes are structured for hikers who would classify themselves as “beginners”. The goal for these hikes is to grow your confidence on the trails through guided instruction and group support. This series of hikes will gradually increase in difficulty with the last hike taking you to the highest point in Oak Mountain State Park- Shackleford Peak!
Hike Overview:
Moderate difficulty hike, 4 miles round trip with a little over 600’ elevation gain, and it should take approximately 2.5 hours to complete. The hike is open to all ages, but the trail is not wheelchair or stroller friendly. Well-behaved Dogs welcome but must stay on a leash. Please bring water, snacks, and walking/trekking poles if you feel they would benefit you. Make sure you wear proper footwear. As always, we’re going to take several breaks along the way, this is not a race, we’re going to hike at a relaxed pace and focus on enjoying our time together in nature.
Meet your Guide: Zachary Weekley
Zach lives in Hoover with his wife Kristi and dog Max. He enjoys hiking, camping, and reading and spends as much time he can in the woods! Zach has a servant’s heart and is excited to lead guided hikes for the park! We are THRILLED to have Zach leading these hikes and know you will have a great time!

Where to Meet:
Meet Zach and your fellow hikers at the North Trailhead Parking Lot before 9:30am. The hike will begin promptly at 9:30am! Have FUN!!
