Join us for our Winter Field Trip to the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge to see amazing waterfowl including Sandhill Cranes and the endangered Whooping Cranes! Hosted by Oak Mountain State Park and Joe Wheeler State Park! Please read below for important info!
Join Park Naturalists Lauren Muncher of Oak Mountain State Park and Sam Woodroof of Joe Wheeler State Park on this off-site field trip that you will never forget! OMSP guests will caravan to the refuge together as a group. Directions will be given if needed at the beginning of the trip.
**If you are closest to Oak Mountain State Park meet at the Oak Mountain State Park Office at 8:00am for an introduction to the refuge and refuge rules!
**If you are closest to Joe Wheeler State Park meet at the Park Lodge at 9:30am for an introduction to the refuge and refuge rules!
Arrival to WNWR will be around 10am for all participants.
FREE with paid park admission and for overnight guests.
