Join Cheaha’s Interpretive Team as they guide you through the world of Cryptic Critters Journaling. Create your very own journal, then paint, sketch, write, and imagine a new world with all kinds of unique critters based on famous legends and folklore! All supplies are included.

Readers Theater: The Red Dragon, An Aboriginal Legend
We are all familiar with television, plays, and movies, but how often do you have the opportunity help the story come to life as a character yourself? Young (and young at heart) are welcome to join in creating a play through a legendary Reader’s Theater program. Learn how the Red Dragon helped animals find their adaptations.

Exo Explorer: Critter Creations
Animals face many challenges as they navigate the Alabama wilds! Adaptations such as wings, claws, sharpened teeth, coloration, and supersonic hearing can make all the difference for success and survival. Join Park Naturalist Mandy Pearson as she introduces you to some spectacular animal adaptations for living and mythical critters. You will then use natural materials to create your own specially adapted animal from scratch! Let your imagination run wild as you bring your very own animal creation to life! All supplies are included in this program.

Test your knowledge and amaze your friends with your fascinating factoids, Googling ability, or good luck guesses (or just swing by for the laughs).

Sharpen your hide and seek skills by finding all the hidden locations. Pick up a scavenger hunt sheet from the Mountain Store.
-Hike to the Highest Point in Alabama: Bigfoot Trail (1 mile)
Count how many hidden Bigfoots you see along the way.

-Legacy Story Trails
Cheaha Legacy Story Trails offer guests a unique way to enjoy nature, cultural heritage, and environmental arts. Follow the interpretive panels on the Tim Haney Sensory Trail (LNT Bigfoot Trail), Shinrin-yoku Trail (Mountain Laurel Trail), and the Time Traveler Adventure Quest (begins at the Mountain Store). Stop by the Mountain Store to pick up a trail map.
