Accessible First Day Hike
Start your new year off enjoying the beauty of Cheaha State Park. On this accessible First Day Hike, we will hike on the Bald Rock Accessible Boardwalk to Bald Rock Overlook (0.6 mile total). Join Cheaha’s Naturalist, Mandy Pearson, on a hike across the highest mountain in Alabama. Restaurant will be open from noon – 8 pm serving carry-out specialty pizzas, burgers, chicken tenders, chili, salads, and more! If it is cold outside, you can dine by the big fireplace with an awesome view while Socially Distancing.
First Day Hikes will also be provided virtually on our Facebook page, offered in the park at a self-guided pace, or through experiential staff guided trail hikes. Two guided hikes will be offered in person, but you must register your family for your time slot. Due to Covid-19, we are reducing the participant group size per program time slot. We will also offer self-guided hikes with interpretive stations. Virtual hikes will also be available on our Facebook page.
We are committed to providing programs that are educational, fun, and safe. Family units will be spaced out from other family units. Registration is required for the guided hikes. For more information email Mandy.Pearson@dcnr.alabama.gov
