Paul Grist State Park Horse Trails

Paul Grist State Park has approximately 23 miles of well marked trails suitable for horses, hikers & bikers. These trails consist of bridge & creek crossings, gentle hills, flat areas, picnic areas and lots of shade. Horse shoes are not recommended.

Trails range from easy (red trail) to advanced technical (orange). A new Back Country Horseman of West Alabama (BCHA) chapter was started in 2022 at this park. This volunteer organization helps restore, maintain & develop the trails. They are also working diligently to develop a Horse Camp area. Currently this area is still primitive with trees for picketing. Overnight camping is allowed in this area and two water spigots are available for watering horses.
