Girl Scouts Love State Parks Weekend
Alabama State Parks
Come and explore our State Parks to celebrate the national event, Girl Scouts Love the State Parks! Over 25,000 Girl Scouts around the USA will be participating with their troops and families. Your troop or family can bring their own picnic style lunch to enjoy at the park.
While this year will be self-guided in DeSoto State Park, there are many ways Girl Scouts can enjoy Their state park. Take a hike, go birding on a walk along the Talmadge Butler Boardwalk Trail, kayak the river, go waterfall hunting, go mountain biking, take a dip in Little River. Visit the Benefield Interpretive Center to learn about the people and the critters that have called Lookout Mountain home, and discover the park’s history by visiting the Civilian Conservation Corps Museum. Complete DeSoto's Jr. Ranger booklet and turn it in for a free patch to be mailed; work on finding the trees along the boardwalk with our tree scavenger hunt. Enjoy the day or the weekend in the Great Outdoors!
Dates: September 13-15, 2024
