Spann’s Landing on the Choctawhatchee River Has Reopened

October 25, 2011

The Spann’s Landing public boat ramp in Geneva County has reopened after a month-long renovation project by the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division (WFF). During the project the deteriorated launching slab was replaced and the launch area was reinforced with riprap to control erosion.

The renovations were funded through the Sportfish Restoration Act, which is administered by the U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service.  Funding for this grant was secured through a federal excise tax on various fishing equipment and outboard motor fuel.  Anglers and boaters who would like information about this, or any other WFF public access areas should call the Fisheries Section at 334-242-3471 or visit the Fishing section of the website.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s natural resources through five divisions: Marine Police, Marine Resources, State Lands, State Parks, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries.
