Conservation Advisory Board to Get Oil Spill Update

The Conservation Advisory Board will meet August 25, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. The Sea Lab is located at 101 Bienville Blvd in Dauphin Island, Ala.
Several experts are scheduled to update the board on information related to the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. Citizens are invited to attend the meeting, but there will be no public comment time.
The Conservation Advisory Board assists and advises on matters relating to the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources including hunting seasons and bag limits. The Board is composed of 10 members appointed by the governor for alternating terms of six years, and three ex-officio members in the persons of the Governor, the Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, and the Director of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. The Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources serves as the ex-officio secretary of the Board.
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s natural resources through five divisions: Marine Police, Marine Resources, State Lands, State Parks, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries.
