Public Meeting to Be Held at Rickwood Caverns State Park
December 12, 2008
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ State Parks Division will hold a public meeting at Rickwood Caverns State Park on Thursday, December 18, 2008, at 4 p.m. The meeting will take place in the snack bar area behind the park office.
Don Burdette, of the State Parks Division’s Natural Resources Section, will be there to discuss various maintenance needs at the park including: Vegetation management, forest health, wildlife habitat, park aesthetics, outdoor recreation, visitor safety and park infrastructure.
State Parks Officials say steps to improve visitor safety, protect the park’s infrastructure, and remove dying trees and overgrown vegetation along trails, should increase wildlife viewing potential and reduce wildfire hazards.
Rickwood Caverns State Park is located in the southwest corner of Blount County, Ala., just west of Interstate 65. For directions to the park call (205) 647-9692, or visit the ADCNR website at www.outdooralabama.com.
