Take The Family To A State Park During Alabama Parks And Recreation Month

The month of July has been declared Parks and Recreation Month in Alabama by Governor Bob Riley. What better time to explore one of Alabama’s 24 State Parks? The parks offer a welcome break from fast-paced, sometimes hectic lifestyles, and an opportunity to enjoy family activities in beautiful settings.

Alabama’s State Parks range in size from small day-use parks with picnic areas, playgrounds and hiking trails to the large resort parks with full service facilities and amenities. Some parks have challenging golf courses, most have family swimming areas, and all feature nature at its very best.

For a special and interesting experience, visit Rickwood Caverns State Park near Warrior or Cathedral Caverns State Park near Grant. Both offer the magnificence of underground wonders and the cool temperatures that are so welcome for July in Alabama.
