No Crab Traps Allowed around Battleship Memorial Park on July 4

June 28, 2006

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announces that from noon until midnight on Tuesday, July 4, 2006, no crab traps (recreational or commercial) shall be allowed in any waters in Choctaw Pass or within one nautical mile of the Battleship USS Alabama.

Battleship Memorial Park will be the location for a major fireworks display on July 4, 2006. Boating traffic in the area is expected to be heavy this night. Therefore, all crab traps must be removed from the area prior to noon on that day.
