Youth Squirrel Hunt Saturday at Barbour Wildlife Management Area

January 30, 2006

The ninth annual youth squirrel hunt on the Barbour Wildlife Management Area will take place Saturday, February 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Boys and girls through age 15 are invited to attend the day, which will include a variety of activities. Children under eight years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

A BB gun and skeet shoot will take place at 11 a.m. followed by the squirrel hunt at 3 p.m. Supervised groups will go out with squirrel dogs and there will be a falconry hunt with hawks as well.

Supper will be provided at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m., a hayride and coon hunt will take place. In addition, bow and arrow shooting and turkey calling instruction will be offered during the day.

The Eufaula Lions Club, the Barbour County Coon Hunters and the Barbour County WMA will host the event with sponsors including many Eufaula area merchants.
