Ribbon Cutting Announced for Little Billygoat Hole Access Facility

August 01, 2003

Mr. M. Barnett Lawley, Commissioner of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, wishes to invite the public to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly-renovated Little Billygoat Hole Public Access Facility on the east end of Dauphin Island across from Fort Gaines.  The ceremony, which will showcase the facility and will feature speakers from the various agencies who helped fund the effort, will take place at the site at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 6, 2003.

Partially funded through the Coastal Impact Assistance Program (CIAP) administered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the project leveraged financial resources from several local, state, and federal sources.  The Marine Resources Division kicked in Sportfish Restoration funds for the renovation of the launching ramps and piers.  “This is another great example of the strength of our partnerships here at the coast,” said Commissioner Lawley.
