Press ReleaseColumbiana Woman Wins Drawing For the Outdoor Alabama CanoeNovember 07, 2003 Registrants at the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ booth at the Alabama National Fair vied for the Outdoor Alabama canoe on display in the booth. The contest, sponsored by Outdoor Alabama magazine, offered the canoe package -- canoe, paddles and PFDs -- and secondary prizes of magazine subscriptions. Academy Sports and Outdoors’ Conservation Commissioner M. Barnett Lawley drew the winning registration slips from the more than 3,000 entries received during the 10-day fair. Amy Colquitt of Winning the canoe came as a big surprise to Colquitt, whose family is as excited about the win as she is. Amy’s husband, Ricky, and children Hannah and Alex Gamble are looking forward to a canoeing trip very soon. “We had actually been thinking about buying a canoe,” she said. “I love being outdoors. My parents live on By luck of the draw, five one-year subscriptions to Outdoor Alabama magazine were awarded to Jessica Norris, Honoraville; Connie Tucker, Montgomery; John Parker, Montgomery; Gregg Guthrie, Outdoor Alabama magazine, published five times a year, is the official publication of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and offers outstanding color photos and features on hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing, and other outdoor activities to enjoy in Alabama’s great outdoors.
