Free Fishing Day Events Scheduled Throughout The State

May 19, 2004

Several events are planned around the state as a part of Free Fishing Day, June 12. These special fishing events, held during National Fishing Week, June 5-13, provide opportunities for families and friends to share fun and quality time together while learning about one of our nation's favorite pastimes. Scheduled events are:

Kids’ Fishing Derby – Held at Open Pond in Andalusia from 7 a.m. until noon. All youth ages 12 and younger that are accompanied by an adult are invited to participate. For more information, contact Alex Boldog at 1-334-222-2555.

DeKalb County Lake Kids’ Catfish Classic– At DeKalb County Lake from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Event is open to children 15 and younger that are accompanied by an adult. Contact Pete Little at 1-256-657-3000 for more information.

Lee King Benefit Buddy Tournament and Kids Day– Children 15 and younger accompanied by an adult can particapate. It will be held at Lakepoint State Park starting at 8 a.m. and ending at 2 p.m. For more information, contact Sam Williams at 1-334-687-6266.

Capital City Kiwanis Kids’ Fishing Day– All youth ages 15 and younger that are accompanied by an adult may participate. Held at Lagoon Park in two flights. Children may fish from 7:30-11:00 a.m. or 1-4 p.m. For more information, contact Chris Greene at 1-334-358-0035.
