Coosa WMA Shooting Range Temporarily Closed

October 03, 2013

The Coosa Wildlife Management Area (WMA) public shooting range is currently closed due to the construction of a nearby cell phone tower. The range will reopen weekends only on October 19 through November 9, when the range will return to regular hours.

The range is located approximately 5.5 miles north of Kelley's Crossroads on Alabama Highway 22 in Coosa County. The Coosa WMA shooting range is managed by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division.

Alabama has an extensive system of public shooting ranges that offer a variety of shooting opportunities including pistol, shotgun, rifle, archery and more. For a complete list of public shooting ranges, visit www.outdooralabama.com/hunting/education/shooting-ranges.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s natural resources through five divisions: Marine Police, Marine Resources, State Lands, State Parks, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries.
