Press ReleaseHunter Education Course Schedule for 2004February 12, 2004 Traditional hunter education courses will be offered at various sites around the state. Refer to the attached schedule for class locations and dates. The courses will be taught by instructors certified by the Alabama Conservation Department’s Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division. An alternative delivery program allows students to obtain partial credit for the hunter education course by completing an interactive CD-ROM. To obtain a hunter education course certificate, students must complete the interactive CD and attend a one-day hands on field day. Mandatory for all first-time hunting license buyers born on or after For more information on hunter education in The interactive CD-ROM has many activities and questions, including a 50-question test that students must complete. After completing the CD, students must return a final report generated by the CD to the office listed on the attached schedule. Students must indicate on the final report which CD field day they would like to attend. At that time, they will enroll in one of the scheduled field days. At the field day, students must complete a standard written examination and are expected to demonstrate many skills such as loading and unloading different types of firearms, safely crossing fences, and other activities that all safe, responsible hunters should be able to complete. These hunter education CDs are available at each County Extension Service Office and the locations listed on the attached schedule.
