Serious Skills Series: Fly Fishing for Beginners
The Serious Skills series is a variety of classes and workshops that provide opportunities to discover a hidden talent or learn a new skill for personal enrichment. Classes are open to local residents, overnight guests and park visitors.
Join fisherman and Fort Payne local Chris Hale for this fun opportunity to fly fish on the West Fork Little River in DeSoto State Park. You will learn the basics to get started on your own fly fishing adventures! 
Class is geared toward warm water fly fishing, all equipment is supplied for 10 participants. Open to ages 12 to adult---under 16yrs requires parent supervision
Required clothing/equipment-wading shoes or water sandals/shoes, drinking water, polarized sunglasses/hat (optional)
Class consist of-
• Basic casting
• Essential knots
• How to read water and find fish
• How to land and properly release fish
• Wading advice/safety
• How to choose equipment/flies

Date: October 14, 2017
Time: 9:00-11:00 a.m. (CST)
Where: DeSoto State Park-Fort Payne, Alabama. Meet at the Country Store on County Road 89
Fee: $10.00 per person. Pre-registration is required, class is limited to 6 students. Call 256.997.5025 or email to register. Class is also available for groups, scheduled ahead of time.
