2009 - 2010 Audubon Teaches Nature Series

Who:  Alabama Wildlife Center, Birmingham Audubon Society, Friends of Oak Mountain State Park, and the Oak Mountain Interpretive Center present the 2009 - 2010 Audubon Teaches Nature series.

What:  2009 - 2010 Audubon Teaches Nature programs showcasing the beauty and natural history of Oak Mountain State Park and the central Alabama region. Each program begins at the Alabama Wildlife Center for refreshments and ends with a nature walk within the park, so be sure to binoculars and field guides.

  • October 18: An Introduction to the Spiders of Alabama
  • November 15: Nature Photogrpahy - Capturing Birds and Critters in Photographs
  • January 17: Birds on Parade - Close Encounters with Alabama's Birds of Prey
  • February 21: Caves and Cave Life - All About Alabama's Underground Wonders
  • March 28: Return of the Spring Migrants - Catching the Yucatan Express
  • April 11: The Confederate Daisy in Alabama
  • May 23: Swamp Life at Ebenezer

When:  About 1:30p.m., guests gather in the Alabama Wildlife Center's front observation room for cider and cookies. The program begins at 2p.m.

Where:  Alabama Wildlife Center, 100 Terrace Drive

Cost:  Free after admission into the park. Adults - $3, Children (6 - 11) - $1, Seniors (62+) - $1
