Approximately 1.5 miles from the white sands of the gulf beaches, Gulf State Park offers a 496-site improved campground including 11 modern bathhouses, pull-thru sites, back-in sites, water front campsites, and ADA accessible sites. Tents are also welcome in our campground. Great for spending time with family and friends, all camping pads are paved and big enough for large RV's with pullouts. All sites have water, sewer and electricity (20, 30, and 50 amp), a picnic table, and pedestal grill. There are laundry facilities and recycling bins located beside the Campstore to accommodate our guests. There are two playgrounds located in the campground. Gulf State Park offers very limited WiFi service and cannot guarantee service.

New to Gulf State Park are 11 brand new primitive camping sites that include stone campfire rings, grill tops, and picnic tables. These new sites are nestled among the trees and on the creek, and include access to the bathhouses, playgrounds, and laundry facilities.

Gulf State Park is home to many types of wildlife including alligators. Please be aware at all times. Please see: Alligators in Gulf State Park

"Please pardon our conservation progress.  The Department of Conservation in conjunction with Forestry have received a grant to remove the invasive species called the Chinese Tallow Tree. Most of the work being done that  will affect our guests slightly is in the campground. First they sprayed the trees to prevent the seeds from dropping, then they cut the trees down, mulch them on site, then re-spray to make sure they kill the seeds, then they clean up the campsites. A few of the shady areas at some of the sites will be affected. The mulch will be a little bit of an eye sore for a while until the greenery can cover it up and new trees at some point will be planted.  Last year we planted over 100 trees and we will continue to do so as often as we can. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and want you to know that part of staying in a park is to understand that our mission is to maintain our native species and the Chinese Tallow tree must be removed in order for our native trees and shrubs to flourish. Any invasive species conflicts with the ecosystem and throws everything off balance. The seeds came in with the hurricane in 2004 and this is a three year grant that will take place in stages. We appreciate your understanding and patronage to our park. Please direct any questions to gulf.statepark@dcnr.alabama.gov."
