These Capital Improvement Projects were made possible by the Alabama Legislature restoring funds to the State Park Capital Improvements Budget.  This page is intended to keep the public informed on what we are doing with these funds and what facilities will be temporarily closed during construction.

DeSoto State Park is doing interior renovations to 3 chalets.  Included in the “mini-renovation” are new floors, new cabinets, new stove/oven, new refrigerator and new mattresses.  The entire interior, including the ceilings have been repainted.

Lodge Restaurant and Roof Repairs - Currently Underway

Contractors will be making repairs to rafters and supports to the porch area of DeSoto State Park’s Restaurant which will result in sporadic closure to the main dining room.  The rest of the kitchen and dining area will remain open to the public during the repairs.
**PROJECT COMPLETED**

Other areas of roof damage from previous tornado events will be repair.  A total re-roofing will take place once repairs are made and then the contractor will finalize the project will a total renovation of the flat roof area over the Lodge.

All repairs and renovation to the Lodge are expected to be finished by the end of June 2014.

DeSoto State Park Motel Upgrades

Our guests asked and we heard them!  Among the many requests of improvement to our motel rooms include, mini-frigs and microwaves for each room.  Other needed but subtle improvements will include new bed spreads, window blinds, metal rocking chairs and new carpet.  Most improvements have already been made and we expect to have new rooms carpeted by mid June 2014. PROJECT COMPLETED
