The picnic trail is located on top of the mountain near the CCC Observation tower, which at its base is Alabama's Highest Point – 2047 ft. above sea level.
Further down the trail you will find several picnic tables, a playground and two pavilions. Built by the CCC, the upper stone pavilion has its own men's and women's restrooms and working fireplaces. Sharing a parking area with the stone pavilion is an open air wooden pavilion. Both of these pavilions may be reserved daily for $50.
